S4 E6 – Taste testing aphrodisiacs?!
Of course this podcast had to be valentine’s themed…kind of. This episodes explores weird and wonderful aphrodisiacs and as expected, things get a little bit (very) weird. P.S. this entire podcast theme was Jamie’s idea…can you tell?
Best soundbite: “Pervy McSexpest.” – Mike Huttlestone

S4 E10 – Is MSG not actually bad for you?
There’s a load of negative stigma attached to the consumption of MSG (Monosodium Glutomate) which is a naturally occurring flavour enhancer that’s usually used in take-away foods. But what if we were to tell you it’s not actually bad for you? In this episode the guys delve into the subject and see if they can taste the difference between a normal dish and one where MSG has been added.
I find all your podcasts interesting and really enjoy listening. Just glad I listened to this one at home, it had me in stitches and a few tears in my eyes. I found it so funny. I love how you guys just say what comes to your minds and dont care Brilliant!
You guys should just do an Adult podcast once a month.
no one mentioned that those grapefruits looked like boobies. ( * Y * )
Definitely my favourite episode so far! As much as I love hearing about new and interesting facts within the world of food, I really enjoyed watching this conversation spiral out of control and turn into absolute mayhem haha.
As for Ben’s comment about going out on Valentine’s Day, I can only agree. Having worked in the hospitality industry for years myself, it is not fun for anyone involved, and despite our best efforts, we were never able to put out food and service to our highest standard on that day. Also, the day after always had the best lunch menu of the year because of all the leftovers, for a fraction of the price.
I quite enjoyed that, good fun. Also, valuable information of what I should be wary of or ya know run to 🙂
This was amazing!!!! 😂😍🤦♀️
My favorite episode by far! Thanks guys for the laugh. I loved how awkward Mike felt. My husband and I tend to not celebrate Valentine’s day. We feel that there shouldn’t be just one day to celebrate our love. But I will say that a certain meal will always hold a special place in our hearts. And that’s chicken fettuccine Alfredo. This was the first meal my husband ever cook for me when we were dating. It was by no means the best c.f.a I’ve ever had but it meant so much and he was so ridiculously proud of it.
Really interesting conversation, will have to remember those smells to be wary of in the future! Also, Ebbers could 100% win me over with a quality risotto.
This one was absolutely hysterical! Always fun to take things a bit less seriously, and given how silly Valentine’s Day is I think it fits with the theme.
I find cooking a way better alternative to going out to eat on Valentine’s Day, Ben’s point about the service not being as good and food being rushed on that day is a great point. I try to make Valentine’s plans around the following weekend or prior, cooking together on the day itself is my favorite option and can be a romantic and fun chance to try a new recipe.
Loved this tbh, was actually sitting here at work eating a donut giggling to myself. If only my workmates knew what I was listening too 😂🤨😂
Would also be super interested in being a guinea pig for your meals, any excuse to eat a bit of grub!
Great video.
Are there recipes in the meal package that can be prepared the day before?
I appreciated this episode so much. I didn’t know what was going to happen and it was fab. Plus, as a scientist, this is 100% how all science ends up getting done; discussion and then the inevitable veering off into some silliness.
…that being said that study sounds like rubbish :p
Hahaa! Thank youuu…we’ll try and get better studies in the future haha!
Great episode!
Hands on cooking will never be the same now…and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Good show!
Hey guys, it is a really fun episode. You made me giggle during my cardio lol
Burnt even more calories woohoo!
I needed it to with all the delicious recipes you provide.
Hey guys! These vids are usually stellar, but I found this one a little annoying as there was hardly any discussion or information being delivered because the time was taken up by awkward, stumbling euphamisms and giggling at innuendos. If you’re going to discuss a topic I feel like you should be sure that you’re able to actually *discuss* the topic before trying to make a video on it.
That being said, I’m studying to be a sexologist and am passionate about straightforward sex education so perhaps I’m a little too jaded on the subject! 😛 I’ll definitely be looking up the study Jamie mentioned, it sounds fascinating!
Something I’d be really interested to know, and tangentially related to the topic, is how you guys deal with the praise and objectification you experience online. How do you feel about comments talking about how attractive or sexy you are? Has the praise ever inflated anyone’s ego? Do you feel pressured to look a certain way because you’re in the public eye?
Thanks for the feedback, it’s really valuable… I’ll try and keep the guys on topic in future haha!
